Welcome to the Hattich Ranch and Farm

Nestled among the vineyards and pastures of the eastern Napa Valley, the Hattich Ranch and Farm has been offering high quality local produce to customers, restaurants, and farmer’s markets since 2005. We currently specialize in seasonal berries, heirloom tomatoes, specialty peppers, and summer melons.

Our Philosophy

Picture
At the Hattich Ranch and Farm, we are committed to offering only the best sustainably grown produce to our customers. We consider ourselves stewards of the land and work hard to offer the highest quality produce with limited impact on the surrounding landscape. At the Hattich Ranch and Farm, we do not use synthetic fertilizers of any kind. Because of our proximity to Sarco Creek, we also rely on limited mechanical tilling to prevent excess sediment from ending up in the waterway. Through promoting beneficial organisms on the farm such as owls, bats, and bluebirds, we greatly reduce our pest population and need for synthetic pesticides.

Our History

Picture
In 1937, Nay Raahague, the son of the Mare Island Ferry owner, and his wife Mary, a secretary at Mare Island, purchased the property on which the Hattich Ranch and Farm currently stands. Together with the help of their daughters, they opened and operated the Hagen Road Dairy, producing milk and butter which they sold at the Dairy Drive-In along Hagen Road.

By the early 1970s, the dairy was no longer in operation and the property had been divided into several pieces. In 1973, Lester and Rosalie Hattich relocated from Richmond, California and purchased a portion of the former dairy property including two of the  dairy barns which still remain on the property. Lester, an accomplished horticulturist, planted a small orchard of mixed fruit trees - some of which still produce fruit today.

In 2005, Bob Hattich, son of Lester and Rosalie, began growing summer produce for several Napa Valley restaurants as well as farmer’s markets across the North Bay. Since then, the farm operation has expanded every year to include more varieties as well as live plants for the home gardener.
